What I've recently realized is that everyone has to have goals. It seems like some sort of human nature thing that's been implanted into our minds. I find that if I don't have something to do that I quickly get bored and really annoyed.
This is what has made humans so succesful as a species though. Propelling us to be better and competing between ourselves has pushed us to where we are right now.
I think we may have this "must do something" attitude because of our expanded minds. With the capacity to be able to think of ideas and set goals, we want to be able to flesh them out, see the outcome of our goals.
This leads into another thing that humans are well known about, curiosity. With curiosity we are encouraged to discover and invent a variety of different things to help us.
With our ability to imagine and set goals, and our curiousity driving us to meet them, we have become the most prodominent species our planet has ever seen.
