The journey to the goal is what tests the person, seeing if they are worthy of the goal. The larger the goal, the more difficult and longer the journey will be. One must earn what they dream of through hard work and determination, because that builds character and defines who you really are.

If everyone achieved everything that they wanted within seconds of thinking it, the world would be in utter chaos. Obstacles, though annoying, are a very important part of the journey, because without obstacles, there would be no journey, and no one would develop as a person.

If there was no work, would the reward be that great? If there was no pain, would there be pleasure?

If a person was given everything they wanted their whole life eventually nothing would satisfy them, because they did not experience the blood and sweat put into getting that reward, therefore turning them into a very shallow person.

This is why we need goals and we need to persist until we complete them, because the harder it was to achieve it, the better it will feel when you actually have it. This kind of person can understand a deeper meaning of anything because they understand what people have gone through to get things, and in turn appreciate life all that more. A person who can appreciate everything for what it is, is a good person indeed.
